FIOCCO is our special, beloved, natural toddler mattress. Entirely handcrafted by our artisans using few, simple but extremely valuable ingredients: pure virgin wool, raw cotton, and incredibile manual ability.

Carded, sewn and quilted by hand in Italy, FIOCCO is designed specifically for Babylodge^® Montessori bed range. It stands out for a 100% natural filling, made of pure virgin wool (British Refino quality) and raw cotton, with a 50/50 or 30/70 mixed blend depending on the variant.

Its comfortable consistency makes it particularly suitable for babies’ and kids’ delicate bodies. Whilst carded staples offer softness and flexibility, the quilting, handmade with 100% cotton-linen yard, ensures structure and lift. These characteristics make FIOCCO the ideal complement for Babylodge^® toddler beds. Specifically, each bed has a built board mattress-base to provide constant, and homogeneous support to the whole body.

FIOCCO guarantees the safety of a breathable and hypoallergenic complement. It is suitable for any kind of skin, including the most sensitive and delicate ones. All materials used to make FIOCCO are 100% natural, free of any detergent or bleach and, therefore, completely recyclable and reusable.

Soft, pure, natural

Pure virgin wool (British Refino quality, the finest selection in the upholstering sector) and raw cotton staple fibers, carded by hand according to artisan tradition, constitute the internal filling. To craft the external cover, our artisan mattress makers only use raw cotton fabric, whose écru color confirms the lack of any bleaching treatments. The quilting is handmade with 100% cotton-linen yard.

Through the inspection zipper it is possible to inspect the internal filling’s high quality. Wool staple fibers will result slightly greasy to the touch. This is due to the presence of a certain percentage of lanolin, the natural substance that the woolly fleece is soaked with. Largely present in natural cosmetics, lanolin also has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Among the pure cotton fibers you might find some residual grains, as a further confirmation of the raw material’s quality and, in particular, of its crude, untreated status.

Ideal in any season

Thanks to the wool-cotton mixed blend and to the thermoregulation provided by wool, Babylodge^® FIOCCO natural mattress is suitable for any season.

Wool features extraordinary physical characteristics, that no synthetic fiber can equal. Wool is breathable, thermally insulating (it balances body temperature, helping stay warm when it’s cold and stay cool when it’s hot), water-resistant (it repels water and stays dry) and, at the same time, hygroscopic (it absorbs moisture and, therefore, sweat). Additionally, it is fire-resistant, antibacterial and odour-resistant, ensuring a naturally healthy environment. Furthermore, it is a 100% natural, renewable, and biodegradable resource, very differently from the synthetic fibers used for industrial mattresses.

To safeguard natural fibers, it is important to periodically expose FIOCCO to air and sun. As with any mattress for babies and kids, to prevent the mattress from any possible accident, it is recommended to use a mattress protector: to this purpose, within its product range Babylodge^® recommends PANNO, a practical mattress and pillow protector set made of pure cotton cloth. As further protection, it is also possible to add absorbent bed pads between mattress and bedding.

Bedding

Within its product range, Babylodge^® suggests DOTS sheets and pillowcase set: made of soft, pure cotton, it is available in two sizes (tailored to each FIOCCO variant), and it comes with a practical 4-piece formula to meet the need of frequent changes.

Besides DOTS set, standard bed sheets measuring 27 x 55 in (70×140 cm) (bottom sheet) perfectly fit Babylodge^® FIOCCO. Furthermore, for FIOCCO XL, all bedding featuring 31.5 x 63 in (80×160 cm) dimensions (bottom sheet) will fit.
